Branding
»Cat’s can« is a modern brand for premium cat food that emphasises quality, natural and organic products and design.Cats are carnivores, hunters by nature and very noble animals. A cat is undoubtedly the head of the house! However, cats are humans’ best friends and cuddly associates. As part of my thesis, I developed the organic cat food brand »cat’s can« and the accompanying packaging.
The brand’s name combined with its claim bring on a pun. On the one hand, the English noun »can« stands for »a small aluminium or metal container«. On the other hand, the verb »can« means »to be able to do something«. When the apostrophe in the brand’s name is omitted, the slogan’s meaning changes to something around »cats are able to do anything«.
Focusing on the packaging, it was my objective to create a well-balanced image between a premium food brand and a playful animal food brand. This is why I decided to use a golden can, dark shades of grey in combination with bright and vibrant colours, as well as playful illustrative details. Stacked together, the illustrations on the individual cans complete a full picture.
